This week, The Boston Globe became yet another publication to sing the praises of Panama…..
Tom Haines, a reporter for the Globe followed Julio Eligio Bernal Jr. from the Pacific, over the Continental Divide, to the Caribbean Sea – all routes that are well-traveled by visitors as well as residents in Panama!!! The journey can take days – if you opt to take in the jungles, islands, and Indian reservations along the way. Panama is both coastal and mountainous – so the views and weather are both phenomenal.

Many have moved to Panama due to the beaches, fishing, fantastic weather, affordable living and diverse culture.
In the BG article, Bernal commented on the vast amount of Americans that are relocating to Panama. The area is host to Europeans, Canadians, and other Central Americans, like Venezuelans. And tourism, as an industry to the country is now worth in excess of $1.5 billion annually.
Having both the Pacific and the Caribbean oceans at its disposal, Panama is a maritime mecca – the Panama Canal not even being included in the equation. This is the area where Christopher Columbus landed over 500 years ago.
