Panamanian Development Predictions for 2009

The Panama Report published a posting entitled “Panama State of Affairs – 2009”

Made the following predictions for the new year in 2009
Among the highlights:
1.) The Panamanian banks will tighten their lending capabilities.
2.) Money will begin to come into the country from more unlikely places.
3.) Panama will suffer from traffic infrastructure problems due to the incredible growth, but it will be dealt with.
4.) Panama will make many environmental strides and will become more eco-friendly.
5.) Education will be more highly prioritized as the city becomes more international.
6.) Real estate prices will lower slightly and quality will improve.
7.) The tourism board will begin to push harder for travelers.
8.) Real estate will get “a reality check” where prices will stabilize.
9.) The rental market will attract international residents.

Trade Mission to Panama: Focus on Development in Panama City

The U.S. Department of Commerce is hosting a “Trade Mission to Panama” conference, which will be held October 26-29, 2008

The conference will be focused on the booming development in Panama, and opportunities that exist for exporters in the United States as the pending U.S.-Panama Free Trade Agreement comes to fruition.  With the expansion of the Panama Canal, Panama’s economy grew 38.2% in 2006, and 11.5% in 2007.

The conference boasts coverage in the areas of: Building products, Electric & Power, Consumer Goods, Hotel & Restaurant, Medical, IT & Security, Construction, Safety & Security, and Telecom and Machinery.

Participation Fees:

$1560 – small and medium-sized businesses

$1850 – large firms and enterprises

** Each additional company rep is charged $450

** Incidentals are billed separately
